I’m taking on another DP challenge: Some habits or acts which drive me a little crazy.
I consider myself a relatively sane person (at least on the outside) 🙂 and I really try not to let things bother me, especially little things. You know what’s funny though? It’s almost always the little things that bother you the most. How’s that for irony?
I’d say first on my list of pet peeves is lateness. In today’s world there is almost no excuse for not knowing what time it is. The time is on your mobile, computer, microwave, tablet, mp3 player, e-reader, it’s displayed in your car and for those of us who actually still wear watches for reasons other than fashion, the time is strapped right on your actual body. So *why* are some people tardy?
Things happen, I know. Traffic jams (isn’t that a popular one?), wardrobe malfunction, car trouble etc. This is why we should strive to allow for mishaps by being early for the appointed time, so that should something come up/happen you have a window of opportunity for a plan B or enough time to call well in advance and explain your situation and give the person who’s waiting a heads up.
My biggest issue with people who are *chronic late-comers* is that it gives the impression that they have no regard or respect for your time and that is just plain rude.
Another thing which can send me a little cuckoo is picking up after people. Hey, maybe I’m a neat freak…or whatever but it’s really annoying when people do not pick up after themselves. Of course I’m not referring to little children, even though some kids actually do pick up after themselves.
Whether in the work place or in the home, it grinds my gears when people leave stuff laying around. They will pick it up, use it then go about their merry way leaving their clutter behind them like Hansel and Gretel dropping crumbs in the forest. Do they put 5 bucks on the counter for the Domestic Fairy? Of course not! 😦
People who cough, sneeze or yawn without covering their mouths, drive me a little crazy. Growing up we were all taught to cover our mouths when we did these things. So what happened? Why sprinkle people’s faces and the atmosphere with our germs when it’s so much easier to cover your mouth or sneeze into the crook of your elbow?
I saw the movie Contagion a couple years ago and that really messed me up! Let’s get back to basics and exhibit good manners and hygiene. 🙂
You know what else drives me up a wall? Poor customer service. O-M-G! Have you ever walked into a place of business and the receptionist or customer service agent totally ignores you? They may be on the phone or having what is obviously a more important conversation with their co-worker than any they could have with you. These people act as if you’re an interruption to their scheduled programming as opposed to the reason they’re employed.
They don’t seem to grasp the concept that a customer means business, business means profit and profit equals salary.*sigh*
I’ll wrap up my list of pet peeves with people who play their personal music for the public…whether the public wants to hear it or not. Have you ever been on a plane, bus, train or in a confined public space and there is that one person with their headphones on and you can hear the lyrics to the song from 10 feet away?
What’s the point of the headphones then? If you have your headphones on and the people around you feel as though they’re listening to surround sound, then it’s too loud. I love music as much as the next person but I don’t believe everyone should be subjected to whatever I’m listening to unless we’re having a party. 🙂
What are some of your pet peeves? What habits drive you a little nutty?
Hit me up. (CN)
