NaPoWriMo Poetry Challenge Day 15: The Mirror…

Prompt: “Because today marks the halfway point in our 30-day sprint, today I’d like to challenge you to write a poem that incorporates the idea of doubles. You could incorporate doubling into the form, for example, by writing a poem in couplets. Or you could make doubles the theme of the poem, by writing, for example, about mirrors or twins, or simply things that come in pairs.”

The Mirror

I find it interesting that

I can see my image so clearly…

The physical that is.

You capture me

with every angle;

the light,

the dark

and all the shades in between;

my perfect

imperfections

and my flawed

perceptions

of physical self.

Yet,

you could never capture

all that I am.

My essence

is not reflected by you.

My strength,

my soul, my spirit

could never be contained

within your pane

of glass.

For, I am more than the physical

and

you surely can’t tell

all that I am

by merely my shell.
