NaPoWriMo Poetry Challenge Day 28: Good Intentions

Note: NaPoWriMo Poetry Challenge officially ended April 30th but I was ill for almost 2 weeks and was not feeling creative. I saved the prompts and will be posting my poems simply because I like to finish what I start.

(If you still read them, I’m most appreciative!)

The prompt: “…write a poem that tells a story. But here’s the twist – the story should be told backwards. The first line should say what happened last, and work its way through the past until you get to the beginning.”

“Good Intentions”

I laid my head to rest on my pillow and slept.

It was such a rough day.

Through my head myriad emotions crept.

I tried to keep stress at bay.

I had a million things I needed to do.

I was running out of time.

The “Things to do” list; I couldn’t get through.

My poetry book with not one new rhyme.

My best intentions gathered like a clan

and the sense of purpose made me heady.                           Black woman having coffee

A hot cup of coffee and I laid out my plan,

I woke to conquer the day fresh and ready!
