Popular…Today’s Daily Prompt.

via Daily Prompt: Popular https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/popular/

After being absent from my blog now for several weeks. I logged in today and decided to accept the challenge from the Daily Prompt.

Today’s prompt is the word “popular” and I asked myself “What’s popular right now on this the first day of October, 2017?”

Well…first and foremost hurricanes, most specifically climate change. Despite the naysayers and the non-believers there is a preponderance of evidence. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria have only recently passed leaving trails of destruction, devastation and death in their wake.

My homeland (Antigua & Barbuda) was one of those affected by hurricane Irma. The sister island of Barbuda was left pretty much a pile of rubble with its residents evacuated to Antigua.

Brexit in the United Kingdom is also popular. I’m sure it will continue to be so for a while. Many talks have been had and many more will be had about “hard” borders and “soft” borders, immigration reform, single markets, trade routes and when Article 50 will be triggered.

You know what else is popular? The Rohingya Muslim apparent genocide being carried out and no seeming attempt to halt the crisis.

Earthquakes are very popular at the moment (remember what I mentioned about climate change?) Mexico…twice and Indonesia.

Floods are popular too. Floods triggered by monster storms, hurricanes and torrential rains.

Self-absorbed leaders appear to be trending…or at least popular.13260255_10100772492517652_5589818949374853533_n

News of trigger-happy people in powerful positions too.

Twitter is quite popular, especially in the hands of dotards allegedly.

Discussions and displays around #takingtheknee are popular. Protests, demonstrations and police are all pretty popular right now.

I hope as 2017 winds down that a lot of the aforementioned lose their popularity.

Let me tell you, it won’t be a moment too soon!
